Lois Jean Rutigliano

February 24, 1932 — January 13, 2013

Lois Jean Rutigliano, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Owensboro to the late Courtney and Bessie (Mann) Jackson.

Lois was a 1953 graduate of Murray State Nursing Program. She loved nursing and retired from Owensboro Mercy Health System (now OMHS) in 1989 after many years as a Registered Surgical Nurse.

She was an active member of St. Stephens Cathedral where her many activities included serving on the Renovation Committee. She also volunteered as a photo journalist for the Western Kentucky Catholic publication. Lois was a former member of the Sierra Club and a 9th Degree Brown Belt in Judo. She had a passion for animals and art.

Lois was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, James "Jim" Rutigliano; her parents; a sister, Mary Joyce (Jackson) Stallings; and two brothers, James P. and Raymond A. Jackson.

She is survived by nieces, Cheryl Stallings of Masonville and Paula (Stallings) McLellan of Owensboro; nephews, Kevin Jackson (Mary) of Louisville, KY and Timothy Jackson of Georgia; great niece, Mandy Johnson (Ryan); great nephew, Aaron Hammonds; and great great nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 15 at St. Stephen Cathedral.
Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
