Lois H. Phelps, 76, of 244 Rudy Road, Owensboro, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at home. She was born February 3, 1929, to the late Henry and Hazel Cardwell Hunt in Butler County. She retired from General Electric and was a member of Owensboro Christian Church. She loved to sing in church and at the nursing homes, and enjoyed being with her family.
She was preceded in death by a son, John Morris, who died June 15, 1996.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Bob Phelps; three daughters, Freda Smith and her husband, Bobby of Owensboro, Darlene Paterson and her husband, George of Owensboro, Cindy Mudd and her husband, Larry of Louisville; one step-daughter, Juanita Rice and her husband Webb of Madisonville; eleven grandchildren, Robbie Smith, Randy Henderson, Tammy Brumley, Crystal Swope, Greg Smith, Miranda Abbott, Jenny Williams, Tiffany Hodges, Matthew Abbott, Kaylyn Mudd and Eric Mudd; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Leet of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be 11:30 AM Monday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 until 6:00 PM Sunday and after 9:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY, 42301.
