Lloyd H. Travis, 86, of Owensboro, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at Owensboro Regional Health Center. He was born in Daviess County to the late Ivory Dale and Malissa Gordon Travis. He served in the Navy during World War II, worked for Stanley Distillery, was the owner of Travis' Ashland Service Station on 4th and Sutton, and retired from Alcoa. Mr. Travis spent his free time woodworking and spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, J.T. Travis, Elwood Travis, Roy Travis, Arvin Travis, and Ollie Travis; and by his granddaughter, Melissa Wedding.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Anita Shelton Travis; sons, David Shreve (Mary) of Fordsville, James Travis (Sandy) of Owensboro, Billy Travis (Kathy) of Sorgho, Louis Travis (Cathy) of Sorgho, Terry Travis and Scott Travis (Selena) both of Owensboro; step-daughter, Shelia Gunterman (Ed) of Owensboro; grandchildren, Lee Wigginton, Angela Zamora, Sandy Flores, Angie Peters, Jeremy Travis, Traves Glen Travis, Savannah Travis, Stacy Lawson and Amy Gore; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Travis.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, prayers to be said at 4 p.m., and after 9 a.m. on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
