Lisa Avis Evans

Lisa Avis Evans, 47, of Owensboro died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at her home. She was a graduate of Apollo High School and Murray State University, and enjoyed helping others as a medical social worker.

Lisa loved her family, who loved her as a devoted daughter, sister and "cool aunt." She had a magnetic personality and made friends in bunches wherever she went. Lisa was a gentle soul and had a heart so full of love and compassion. Everyone who knew her wanted to be with her, because she had a smile that could brighten any day and a special way to bring joy and laughter wherever she went. She was preceded in death by her father, Attie Evans, in 1988.

Her survivors include her mother, Mary Evans, of Owensboro; three sisters, Sherri (Dan) Heckel, Carol Ann (Pat) Flaherty, both of Owensboro, and Susie (Scott) Moore of Plano, Texas; two brothers, Steve (Rose) Evans of Allen, Texas, and Stan (Terri) Evans of Hurst, Texas; nieces Jessica, Lesly, Melissa and Katie Evans and Sarah Flaherty; nephews Zachary (Kristina) and Stephen Bingaman, Max Heckel, John Flaherty and Mark Whitaker; great-niece Alexis Bingaman and great-nephew Stone Hopkins.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 12 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Hall, 4029 Frederica St. All are welcome to share their favorite Lisa stories. To honor Lisa's memory, her family asks that you do a kindness for someone in need. Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. Interment will be at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
