Linwood "Lin" John Bowen

Linwood “Lin” John Bowen, 82, of Owensboro, KY passed away on Tuesday September 29, 2026, at his home. He was born August 9, 1944, in Auburn, NY, to the late John Lester and Doris Williams Bowen.

Linwood grew up in the beautiful small town of Moravia, located centrally in the upstate New York finger lakes region. He lived there his entire life, when at the age of 75, Lin and Diana moved to Owensboro to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Linwood served his country in the Army from 1965-1967 and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Lin was a life member of post 7127 in Moravia and once in Owensboro, also enjoyed the company of his fellow veterans here at post 696, as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles 4168, and the American Legion Post 9.

Linwood was a ball of energy who was always on the go, looking for an adventure, and never met a stranger. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his loving family and the company of his close friends.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Joseph Eames, in March of this year.

Linwood is survived by his wife of 59 years, Diana Nelson Bowen; his daughter, Jennifer Eames; his son, Jeremy Bowen; grandchildren, Jacob, Patrick, and Amy Eames; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Patricia) Bowen; and a sister, Mary Ellen Green.

A memorial service for Linwood will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday October 10, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial to follow in the Field of Honor at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made in Linwood’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
