Lindel C. Jones

Lindel C. Jones, 81, of Owensboro passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born to the late Alfa and Marjorie Noffsinger Jones. Lindel grew up in Midland, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army and moved to Gary, Indiana as a young adult. He worked for U.S. Steel for several years. Lindel moved back to Kentucky at the age of twenty-eight and started his own business, Landshire Foods. He was self-employed for forty-seven years. Lindel was also a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Shirley Jones Brant and Katherine Jones Wright; and a brother, Gaylon Jones.
Lindel is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Phyllis Drake Jones; children, Scott Jones (Tammy) and Bethany Jones Steele (Matt), both of Owensboro ; five grandchildren, Brandon, Mitchell and Jillian Jones, Drake and John Andrew Steele; a sister, Diane Jones Littell; brothers, Jim, Ronnie and David Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 12 Noon, Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Glenn Funeral home and Crematory. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 - 7 PM and Tuesday after 11 AM at the funeral home.
