Linda E. Yager of Owensboro passed away on Thursday July 2, 2026, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Owensboro. The Daviess County native was born on August 27, 1948, to the late Billy G. and Louise Fowler Embry. Linda graduated from Owensboro High School and worked at the Owensboro Credit Bureau for several years. Later in her life she bought and renovated several homes and brought them to life with her superb interior decorating and design. Linda served on the board of Girls Inc. and was a member of Impact 100 of Owensboro.
She loved and enjoyed her family very much and being with her 3 sons. In addition, she had a special affection for her three dogs Rocco, Baxter and current dog Jagger. Linda was a gifted athlete and excelled at tennis and golf, winning the City of Owensboro women’s doubles in tennis and the Owensboro Country Club Championship in golf. She received great enjoyment playing poker with her friends and blackjack at the Casino. Linda had a knack for betting on the horses, as well, and won a pick six at Churchill Downs. She loved spending time with her family and friends houseboating at Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake.
During the last nine years, Linda enjoyed living in Marco Island during the winter months and renovating two of the condos she had lived in. Through her activities she met and made numerous friends and thoroughly enjoyed their company. In the latter years of her life, she fought Multiple Sclerosis and had to give up most of her activities that she enjoyed so much. During the last six months she also battled cancer which finally ended her life.
In addition to her parents, Linda also was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Dewayne Embry and grandson, Thomas Brooks Yager.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 46 years, Al Yager; sons Ryan Watkins, Chad Watkins, and Madison Yager; grandchildren, Havana Paige Watkins, Cordie Alexanderia Morris(Preston); great grandchild, Tanner Morris; two sisters, Eilene Neal and Vickie Dant; several nieces and nephews.
