Lillie Prater Goetz

Lillie Prater Goetz, 85, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at her home. Born in Salyersville (Magoffin County), Kentucky on March 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Warren B. and Elizabeth Bailey Prater; attended St. Peter Catholic Church; and was retired from Wal-Mart. A devoted wife and mother, Lillie enjoyed gardening, quilting, and especially, caring for her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Goetz in 1976.

Surviving are her children, Jimmy (Cindy) Goetz and Karen Marie Goetz of Owensboro, Dottie (Jim) Gary of Louisville, and Kim (Russ) Jones of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Russ Jones, II, Nicholas Jones, and Elizabeth Jones of Atlanta, Ben Gary and Jennifer Gary of Louisville, and Lillie Goetz, J.R. Goetz, and Warren Goetz of Owensboro; a brother, Winfrey (Peggy) Prater of Heath, OH; a sister, Venus Ingram of Shelby, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Father Shuresh Bakka officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Friday evening.
