Lillian Morgan Dawson

Lillian Morgan Dawson, 97, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at her home. She was born on April 8, 1917 in Fremont Co., Iowa to the late W.W. and Mable Pearl Bardwell Morgan. She was Co-owner and Secretary-Treasurer of Green River Appliance Co. Lillian was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church, but had been a longtime member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Institution Management in 1939 from Iowa State University. She had worked at various universities after graduating in Bozeman, MT, Columbia, MO, Antioch, OH, and Bowling Green, KY. She also loved traveling and was an avid reader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Elton Dawson on August 24, 2007.

Surviving are her daughters, Marnell and husband Ray Chambers of Owensboro and Cheryl and husband Grant Burton of Utica, five grandchildren, Paul Chambers of Louisville, Dr. Elton (Montica) Chambers of Seymour, IN, Sally (Micah) Stevens of W. Lafayette, IN, Katie (Sgt. First Class Kevin) Dodson of Ft. Benning, GA, and Matt Burton of Utica, and four great grandchildren, Dawson, Townsend, and Leona Chambers, and Amelia Dodson.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 21, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. Thursday until time of services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International or to Hospice of Western KY, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
