Lewis Gene Patterson, 69, of 9885 Highway 405, Maceo, died Saturday, January 26, 2008 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in McLean County, September 28, 1938 to the late Robert "Dodd" and Lucy (Kemble) Patterson and graduated from Sacramento High School in 1956. He was a member of Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and was in the Kentucky National Guard for 30 years. He was an avid Kentucky basketball fan and loved to fly. He was currently working toward his pilot's license. He was a truck driver for WalMart Transportation, awarded several safe driving awards, and was awarded safety awards for Ryder as well. It was said that he had enough safe driving miles to make five trips to the moon and back.
He was preceded in death also by a granddaughter, McKinley Thompson in 2004.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Betty Patterson, daughters; Kathy Thompson of Maceo, and Christi Brown of Nashville, TN., sons; Tim Patterson and fiance Julie Thompson of Huntsville, Alabama, and Gene Brown in the U.S. Army in Germany, a sister; Janet Sue Whitaker of Owensboro; grandchildren; Tara Thompson, Casandra Schroader, Collin Patterson, Morgan Thompson, Erin Patterson, Hayley Patterson and Mason Kemble Thompson, and nephews; Richard and Robert Whitaker, and a niece; Candace Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Sorgho.
