Letitia Roberts Gilbert

Letitia Roberts Gilbert passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Littleton, CO. A daughter of the late Allie and Mollie Macy Roberts, Tish was born in 1916 in Daviess County and remained a life-long resident. She married Karl D. Gilbert, Jr. in 1945. A member of Third Baptist Church for 70 years, she had been active in the ASC Sunday School Class, served on many committees and contributed in many ways. After graduating from Daviess County High School she worked at Ken-Rad/GE through WWII before retiring in 1951 to raise her children. After her children were grown she worked for many years at The Little Old Gift Shoppe, was a member of the Owensboro Women's Club and enjoyed playing golf and bridge with her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Karl D. Gilbert, Jr.; daughter Margaret G. Cole; granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Goodhue; niece, Janet R. Heath; a brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Gilbert is survived by her son Stephen K. Gilbert (Sally) of Centennial, CO; three grandchildren: Lee (Brittany) Gilbert of Breckenridge, CO; Timothy (Kate) Gilbert of Hudson, OH; Caitlin Goodhue of Lochbuie, CO; a son-in-law Steven Cole of Louisville, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Gilbert will be on Tuesday, April 14 at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be on Monday afternoon from 3:00 to 7:00PM and Tuesday after 9:00 A.M. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the National Kidney Foundation or the Hospice of Western KY.
