Lester Dunaway

Lester Dunaway, 80, of Maceo passed away Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Elaine, AR, Mr. Dunaway was the son of the late Summerfield and Cora Bell Jerdon Dunaway; retired from Green River Steel where he worked for 33 years. Mr. Dunaway was the second person hired and the last to leave Green River Steel here in Owensboro. He was a member of the Yelvington Baptist Church where he was a deacon; served in the Yelvington Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years; had served on the East Daviess County Water Board for 25 years; was a member of the Ensor F&AM; was an Army veteran of World War II; loved to fish; and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Dennis, Earl, Mildred, Edith, Ruth and Mae.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Alline Puckett Dunaway; a daughter, Carla Sue (and Dean) Estes of Lewisport; sons, Ron (and Carla) Dunaway and Ken (and Rachel) Dunaway; 11 grandchildren, Chad and Jeff Estes, Stephan and Wesley Dunaway, Chase, Curt and Somer Dunaway, Ian Clark, Jason and Jared Bradley and Laura Wood; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gwen Haynes of Potosi, MO.

Services are 11 A.M. Monday, September 25, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. Sunday and after 9 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
