LeRoy L. Lawrence

LeRoy L. Lawrence, 94, of Owensboro, KY passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson. He was born April 18, 1920 in Butler, PA to the late Martin and Ketherine Schuler Lawrence. LeRoy was retired from Green River Steel after 31 years of service. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II and member of the American Legion. He was honorably discharged from the Marines as a Corporal in Mechanicsburg, PA on January 29, 1946. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards, watching Westerns, and traveling out West. He also enjoyed visiting his family in Pennsylvania, the outdoors, and working in his yard. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather, and was a great role model. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

LeRoy was also preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude L. Bowser Lawrence on March 12, 1999, a son, David L. Lawrence on March 16, 1992, a sister, Loretta Lois Quigley, and a brother, Loyle Stevick.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Lawrence and wife Brenda of Owensboro and Darryl L. Lawrence of Owensboro, two grandchildren, Christina (Scott) Burns and Jon David (Carrie Billings) Lawrence, all of Owensboro, and four great grandchildren, Taylar (Josh) Granger, Tanner Tibbs, Talon Tibbs, and Elizabeth Lawrence.

Services will be 12 Noon Monday, February 23, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 P.M. Sunday and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
