Leona Howard Wendt

Leona "Lee" Howard Wendt, 75, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008 at the Heartland Villa Nursing Home in Lewisport. Born April 8, 1932, Mrs. Wendt was the daughter of the late Gerald and Hannah Hamilton Howard; was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church; was a retired registered nurse who worked both at Mercy and Daviess County Hospitals; and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Terry Wendt, a granddaughter, Brittany Wendt; and eight brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Thomas W. Wendt; sons, Thomas W. Wendt, II of Nebraska City, NE, and Tim (and Diane) Wendt of Masonville; a daughter, Donna (and Rob) Southard of Owensboro; grandchildren, Katie Jefferson, Cody Wendt and Jessi Wendt of Louisiana, Thomas Wendt, III and Tatum Wendt of Owensboro, Jake Wendt, Jared Wendt, and Hunter Wendt all of Masonville, Sean Southard and Daniel Southard of Owensboro; and Josh Wendt of Evansville and Demi Wendt of Owensboro; a great-great-grandchild, Hannah Jefferson; brothers, Fred Howard of Whitesville and Leo Howard of Philpot; and sisters, Marcella Aud and Amelia Evans of Whitesville; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 10 A.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes with Father John Meredith officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Monday and after 8:30 A.M. on Tuesday. Prayers will be at 6 P.M. on Monday.
