Leona Thomas Butler

January 18, 1921 — March 2, 2002

Leona Thomas Butler, 81, of Owensboro died Saturday, March 2, 2002 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. The McLean County native was a member of the Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church and was retired from Highland Elementary School where she was a cook.

She was preceded in death by a son, David Cecil Butler in 1956.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Cecil Butler; a son, John Martin Butler of Gilbertsville, KY; three daughters, Becky Moseley, Pat Cook and Sue Welborn all of Owensboro; ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; ; and two brothers, Bill Thomas and Jack Thomas of Owensboro.

Funeral services are 1 P.M., Monday, March 4, 2002 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3-8 P.M. on Sunday and after 10 A.M. on Monday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
