Leo D. Murphy, 81, of Reed, KY, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on May 12, 1932 in Daviess Co. to the late Raymond Chester and Frances Richards Murphy. Leo was a farmer and heavy equipment operator most of his life. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Reed and a member of the Knights of Columbus Father Connor Council #6101. Leo was a 1951 graduate of Daviess Co. High School and loved bar-b-ques and cookouts with his family and friends. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Mae Belcher Murphy on December 24, 2004, a grandson, Michael C. McGovern on July 7, 1994, and four brothers, Carl, Harry, Gene, and John Murphy.

Surviving are his daughter, Carolyn McGovern and husband Philip of Owensboro, four grandchildren, Joseph Leo McGovern, David McGovern and wife Kim, and William Patrick McGovern, all of Owensboro, and Philip Louis McGovern and wife Cheryl of Spottsville, seven great grandchildren, Matthew, Justin, Brittany, Noah, and Whitley McGovern, Dylan Burton, and Chelsey Carnahan, and two great great grandchildren, two sisters, Martha Miller and husband Herman of Newman and Linnie Clary and husband Bill, of Stanley, a brother, George Murphy and wife Anna Carol of Owensboro, a special nephew, Galen Dockemeyer of Stanley, a special friend, Joyce Thompson of St. Joseph and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 16, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P. M. Wednesday with prayers at 6:30 P. M. and from 8:30- 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
