Lenore Daniel Smeathers

Lenore Daniel Smeathers, 94, of Owensboro passed away Monday, January 31, 2011 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County, the daughter of the late Howard W. and Louise Lashbrook Daniel, Mrs. Smeathers was a 1937 graduate of Georgetown College where she was editor of the college year book. She married Marvin J. Smeathers in 1940 while he was serving in the Unites States Army Air Corps. Returning to Owensboro, she taught at Daviess County High School until she began her family and her role as a homemaker and farm wife. An active member of Third Baptist Church and its Vota Vita Sunday school class, she had been a member of the Daviess County Homemakers. In addition to her parents, her husband Marvin J. Smeathers preceded her in death in 1990.

Mrs. Smeathers is survived by her daughter, Lenda Anderson and her husband Bob, of Owensboro; her son, Dan Smeathers of Jeffersonville, IN; her grandchildren, William Shane Wilson and his wife Barbara, Eddie Anderson, Georgia Henkel, and Frank Anderson; one great-grandson, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where the funeral service for Mrs. Smeathers will be 10:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Memorial Fund of Third Baptist Church.
