Lena Margaret Wilkerson

Lena Margaret Wilkerson, of 530 Yale Place, Owensboro, died peacefully Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at her home with her daughters by her side. Born November 2, 1922, in Muhlenburg Co., she was the daughter of Sam and Leana Sullivan Estes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wilkerson on October 7, 1998, beloved son-in-law, James Westerfield in 2004, brothers: Howett, William, James, Brazel, and Paul Estes, sisters: Lucille Estes, Opal Freels, and Wanda Kuhn, and three nephews: Jack, Don, and Dwight Estes. A member of Bellevue Baptist Church, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother who enjoyed piecing quilts and spending time with her family. She was retired from Welborn Hospital in Evansville.

Survivors include her daughter: Janice Westerfield, Edna (Jim) Duvall, and Donna (Franklin Keith) Smith, all of Owensboro, and Melissa (Barry) Bruce of Evansville, grandchildren: Lori Sterge, Denise Williams, Robin Dennison, Bryan Smith, Jamie Duvall, and Ben Duvall, all of Owensboro, and Tyler Bruce and Laura Bruce, both of Evansville. She took great pride in her 19 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. Her nieces and nephews were much loved by their Aunt Margaret.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, October 14, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
