Lena Mae Turner

August 24, 1921 — March 4, 2012

Lena Mae Turner, 90, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012 at her home. Born in New Concord, KY, the daughter of the late Preston Boyd and Frocie Lee Boyd Boyd, she graduated as valedictorian of the Murray Training School. Following her retirement as assistant to the Dean of Kentucky Wesleyan College she operated Turner Electronics with her husband William E. "Bill" Turner, who passed away in 1989. A member of Third Baptist Church and the Vota Vita Sunday school class, she had also been active with the Owensboro Woman's Club, the Health Park, Mended Hearts, and Eastern Star. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Elmo Boyd and Lloyd Boyd.

Mrs. Turner is survived by her daughters, Dawn Hyde (Jack) of Destin, FL, Donna K. Tanner (Delbert) of Owensboro, and Pamela Pinnell Smith (Robert) of Port St. Lucie, FL; her grandchildren, Melanie Fulford (Steve) of Pensacola, FL, Steve McGowin (Janet) of Hoover, AL, Janna Cobb (Jeffery) of Cache, OK, Ryan Pinnell (Simi) of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Shannon Paul (Chris) of Hayes, VA; her great-grandchildren, Caleb Elgin of Destin, FL, Tara Elgin of Columbia, SC, Elena McGowin and Ilissa McGowin, of Hoover, AL, Stephanie Cobb and Emily Cobb of Cache, OK, Benjamin Paul of Hayes, VA, and Wyatt Pinnell of Port St. Lucie, FL; and her great-great-grandchildren, Brandon White, Kyle White, and Kaitlin White.

The funeral service for Mrs. Turner is at 12:00 noon Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Western Kentucky, the American Heart Association the Alzheimer's Foundation or Home Helpers.
