Lena R. Acton Tinsley

Lena R. Acton Tinsley, 85, of Evansville, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Evansville. She was born April 28, 1932 in Ohio County to the late Levi and Cecil Collins Acton.

Lena had worked for Dr. Merrill Schell and his wife Evelyn for a number of years. Then she worked at the American Tobacco Co. for 15 years until her retirement. She was a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Lena also loved spending time with her family, making quilts, working puzzles, playing cards, and shopping.

Lena was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Mack R. Tinsley on January 17, 2008, four brothers, Randall, Edward, Ledward, and Raymond Acton and four sisters, Louise Brown, Winona Wilhite, Joyce Acton, and Colleen Acton.

Surviving are her children, Sharon Dickens and husband Michael of Newburgh, IN, Mack S. Tinsley and wife Wanda of Evansville, IN, and Allen Lee Gilbert and wife Sandra of Flint, MI, ten grandchildren including, Byron Tinsley of Jacksonville, FL, Shelly Jones of Richmond, VA, Shawn Tinsley of San Pedro, CA, and Dwayne Bradshaw of Evansville, several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, two brothers, Wesley Acton of Pleasant Ridge and Golden Acton of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 22, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory officiated by Rev. Rhondalyn Randolph. Enichement will be in Rosehill Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
