Lena E. Saalwaechter

Lena E. Saalwaechter, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born on August 15, 1931 in Daviess Co., KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. C. and Virgie Husk Elliott and her sister, Phyllis K. Elliott. As a young mother, she was very active in 4-H. She had retired from the Daviess Co. Board of Education as a secretary at Highland Elementary and as a computer administrator at the central office. Lena was a member of BridgePointe Church, had been a Sunday School teacher, and was a scholar of the Bible. She enjoyed her flower gardens. She loved watching girls basketball especially when her granddaughters played at Daviess Co. High School.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Kenneth O. Saalwaechter, a son, Bill K. Saalwaechter and wife Andi of Owensboro, three daughters, Denise Lynch and husband Roger of Newburgh, IN, Kareene Todd and husband Joe of Bozeman, Montana, and Karen Cunningham and husband Peter of Murfreesboro, TN, 11 grandchildren, Katie Wilson, Zach Todd, Kayli Krohn, Kaitlyn, Faith, and Josiah Todd, Ben Cunningham, Sarah Jackson, Kirsti, Sydni, and Barrett Saalwaechter, and one great grandchild, James Owen Jackson.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 22, at BridgePointe Church (2706 Frederica St.). Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at BridgePointe Church.
