Leland C. Jones

Leland C. Jones, 71, of Owensboro, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at his home to go and join his wife Brenda Louise Jones. Born January 13, 1946, in Owensboro, Leland was the son of the late Cecil Walker Jones and Ann Barnard Alvey. He graduated from Owensboro High School and then Kentucky Wesleyan College. Leland worked with his two brothers, John W. Jones (Sylvia) and James E. Jones (Sandy) at Modern Welding for 40 years and had become Executive Vice President.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved golf and NASCAR. Leland was the Chair of the Owensboro Tourist Commission, a member of the Noon Optimist Club and a Kentucky Colonel. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4168 and loved and cared for everyone there.

Leland was preceded in death by his loving wife Brenda Louise Jones in 2009; and a brother, John Jones.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are a daughter, Stacy Marie Unsel and her husband Bryan of Maceo; sons, Anthony Lee Jones and his wife Karen of Owensboro, and David Glenn Jones of Utica; Grandchildren, Randall B. Unsel Jr. ( Hanna), Hunter C. Jones, Breanna L. Jones, Arielle R. Jones, Chance W. Jones; great grandchildren, Ezra Jones and Jaxson Hall; and a brother, James E. Jones.

The funeral Mass for Leland will be at 10 AM Friday, May 5, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Fr. Pat Reynolds officiating. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory from 2 PM until 8 PM with prayers at 6 PM, and Friday from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM At the funeral home.
