Lela Ann Wright, 81, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Born on August 26, 1943, in Daviess County, Lela was one of ten children, growing up in a large and loving family that shaped her generous spirit and nurturing nature. Lela dedicated over 12 years of her life to serving the students of Daviess County Schools in the food service department. Her work was marked not just by her commitment but also by the warmth she extended to everyone she encountered. Lela's personality shone brightly through her roles as a wonderful wife, mother, and beloved Nana. Her family was at the center of her universe, and she took pride in creating a loving home. Beyond her family life, Lela had a passion for baking; she was particularly renowned for her delectable chocolate chip cookies that brought smiles to those lucky enough to taste them. Additionally, she enjoyed cultivating her beautiful flowers and expressing her creativity through quilting, finding joy and solace in each stitch.
Lela is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Isabell Ebelhar; brothers, Paul Ebelhar, Jimmy Ebelhar, Donnie Ebelhar, Mickey Ebelhar and Charles Ebelhar.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 62 years, Elmo Wright; children, Amy Gartner (Michael) of Lexington, KY, Andy Wright (Michele) of Camden, TN, and Karen Millay (John) of Platte City, MO; siblings, Rosanell Ebelhar, Harold Ebelhar (Joyce), Pat Ebelhar (Mary), Mark Ebelhar (Tammy), and Hayden Ebelhar; grandchildren, Christopher Gartner (Kelly), Hannah Przybysz (Ryan), Abagayle Melton (Matthew), Maxwell Wright, and John Declan Millay; greatgrandchild, Church Anthony Melton; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Lela will begin at 9:30 AM Tuesday, July 15, until 12 PM, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky, C/O Heartford House, 3419 Wathen’s Crossing, Owensboro, KY, 42303.
