Lee Gordon

Lee Gordon, 78, of Philpot, passed peacefully Friday, November 28, 2025 at Wellington Parc. He was born August 6, 1947 in Daviess County to the late Elbert Lee “Buddy” Gordon, Sr. and Martha Jo Gordon.

He was a graduate of Daviess County High School and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in business administration with a major in accounting from Kentucky Wesleyan College. He was an army veteran. He was assigned to the 109th military intelligence group.

Lee was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. He also faithfully attended Owensboro Christian Church.

Lee was always a tireless worker having worked in the hayfield and tobacco patch as a youth. Among his first jobs was driving a coal truck for his grandfather Bennett Beloat. After college graduation, he was the controller for the United Way of the Ohio Valley. His entrepreneurial desires led him to found and operate Gordons Farm and Hardware in Philpot. He then expanded into Owensboro with Gordon’s Hardware and Gordon’s Fireplace and Grill Center. He enjoyed meeting and talking to his customers. He was a horse lover and enjoyed trail riding. Lee volunteered with Dream Riders of Kentucky, serving for many years as treasurer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Ronnie Gordon and a nephew Michael Gordon.

Surviving are a son, Scott Gordon and wife Emily of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Byron Gordon (Kaylee) and Julia McKay (Brandon), all of Owensboro; a sister, Debbie Harreld (Arthur) of Owensboro, two brothers, Bobby Gordon (Patsy) of Maceo and Bruce Gordon of Utica; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Saturday, December 6 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 7 PM Friday and after 9 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
