Lawrence A. Washington

Lawrence A. Washington III, 80, of Owensboro, passed away on September 16, 2017. Larry was born April 23, 1937 in Huntington, Indiana to the late Lawrence A. Washington Jr. and Ella Katharine Stallard Washington. He was a graduate of Owensboro High School and Centre College. Larry was a vice president of Owensboro National Bank for 20 years and administrative vice president of Beaver Dam Deposit Bank. Larry was active in numerous civic organizations. He was first vice president of the Owensboro Lions Club, treasurer of Settle Memorial United Methodist Church and treasurer of the Owensboro Babe Ruth Baseball League. He served as chairman of the Green River Area Financial Institutions Security Association, board member on the Owensboro Committee on Aging, The Green River Area Development District's economic development council. In addition, he was chairman of the board of the March of Dimes, vice president of Jaycees, and treasurer of the Diabetes Coalition. A lifelong sports fan, Larry enjoyed following UK basketball, Saint Louis Cardinals baseball, and pro tennis.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Bonnie Lou Starke Washington; sons, Michael Lawrence Washington and his wife Sans of Owensboro and John Augustine Washington and his wife Jane of Versailles; grandchildren, Katharine Ann Washington, John Graham Washington, William Augustine Washington, Benjamin Stallard Washington, and Anne Lawrence Washington.

Services will be 12 noon, September 20, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10 until 12 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
