Lawrence Quinn, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday August 23, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on June 11, 1919 in Hancock Co., Ky. to the late Michael and Nellie Veach Quinn. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and was retired from Fields Packing Co. after 35 years. He enjoyed farming and raising tobacco and vegetables, going to church picnics, and watching midget wrestling. He loved spending time with his family and was a most caring and gentle person. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Clara Payne Quinn on February 15, 2005, a son Leon Quinn on January 10, 2001, a daughter, Marilyn Faye Quinn, and a grandson, Steve Quinn on January 14, 1996.
Surviving are three sons, Collis Quinn of Owensboro, Wallace Quinn and wife Ruth of Maceo, and Tom Quinn and wife Darlene of Owensboro, a daughter, Joyce Vertrees of Owensboro, nine grandchildren, Clint Quinn, Jason Quinn, Cindy Collins and husband Wavie, Josh Quinn and wife Sarah, Alicia Quinn, and Connie Church, all of Owensboro, Jack Quinn of Nashville, TN, Jana Quinn of Lewisport, and Michael Quinn and wife Lori of Charlotte, N.C., nine great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, a sister, Onnora Stone of Owensboro, and a brother, Jim Quinn of Owensboro.
Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, August 26, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with Father John Meredith officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday with prayers at 6:00 P.M. and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
