Lawrence R. Parker

Lawrence R. "Larry" Parker, 84, of Bradenton, FL, formerly of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Blake memorial Hospital in Bradenton. He was born in Butler Co., PA on Feburary 16, 1927 to the late Richard M. and Amelda Myers Parker. Larry was retired from American Transportation Co. as a broker and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He was a former president of the Noon Lions Club, District Governor in the Lions, and a lifetime member of the Lions Eye Foundation. He was a former president of Owensboro Transportation, a Ky. Colonel, and a member of Who's Who in Kentucky.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, June Moser Parker, two sons, Jeff (Tina) Parker of Moody, AL and Larry (Dione) Parker of St. Petersburg, FL, four daughters, Carol (Larry) Jaggers and Gail Parker, all of Owensboro, Kathy (Garnett) Vance of Glasgow, KY, and Sandy (Joe) Bell of Atlanta, GA, 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, Robert "Bob" (Dorothy) Parker of Pennsylvania, and numerous nieces and nephews including William Roger Parker who was like a brother.

Services will be 12 Noon Saturday, November 26 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and after 10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. Prayers will be Friday evening.
