Lawrence O. Kirchhevel

Lawrence O. Kirchhevel, 95, of Owensboro, KY passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born May 18, 1931, to the late Edward and Frieda Peters Kirchhevel. Lawrence will be remembered for being a great father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, and a great friend to many. He was passionate about working on his lawn and making everything look just right, and loved his car and truck, always keeping them spotless. Lawrence enjoyed playing pool at then Elizabeth Munday Center, and eating dinner at Denny’s, sometimes twice a day, but always followed up with a slice of their strawberry pie.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Loraine Kirchhevel; his second wife, Saundra Jean Melhiser Kirchhevel; a son, James Kirchhevel; brothers, Leon and George; and sisters, Lorraine and LaValle.

Lawrence is survived by his sons, Gene and Mark Kirchhevel; daughters, Pam Kelderman and Valerie Moore; stepchildren, Randy Nazario, Mike (Cindy) Nazario, Loary (Steve) Bartlett, and Vicki (Patrick) Beer; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Kathy Brey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service for Lawrence will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday August 26, 2026, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial to follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 until 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
