Heaven's choir is one voice stronger today with the passing of Lawrence Bernard Cravens Sr. "Buddy" entered Heaven's gate Saturday night, June 27, 2015. He is now singing "How Great Thou Art" to his precious Lord and Savior with his beloved wife Lucy Katherine by his side.

Buddy was a long time member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served as Choir Director, Deacon, Training Union Director, Sunday School Teacher and Outreach Song Leader to Fern Terrace.

He was owner of General Water Systems which was responsible for drilling the majority of the water wells in Daviess Co. and Western KY. Later he became co-owner of Owensboro Pump & Supply Co. Buddy retired from Layne Central of Memphis.

He had a passion for music, hunting, and fishing. He loved life to the fullest. There never was a day he didn't tell people how much he loved them.

The family wishes to express their deepest thanks to the staff at Owensboro Place for their love and care.


Buddy was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Katherine Mercer Cravens; his daughter, Sarah Dotson; and brothers Ronald and Roberts Cravens

Survivors include his son, Lawrence "Larry" B. (Missy) Cravens Jr.; daughters, Brenda McClure and Sharon (Jerry) Weber; grandchildren Matthew T. McClure, Rachael S. Ackermann, Mary-Katherine Maddox, Nicholas X. Cravens, Adam Vires, Ashley Ploetner, and Isabella Dotson; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (Pat) Cravens, and a sister Barbara Jackson.

Service will be 2pm Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6pm until 8pm Tuesday and after 10am on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Gilda's House Nashville.
