LaVerne Dorothy Hesseltine, 71, Owensboro, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at her home. Mrs. Hesseltine was a native of Chicago, Illinois, born to the late Eric and Verna (Carlson) Lundstrom. She graduated there in 1954 from Hirsch High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Hesseltine. She was a homemaker, and after moving to Owensboro, was a teachers aid for Estes Elementary, retiring in 2000. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, a member of the Cancer Survivors Organization, Younger Womens Club of Owensboro, and was active at the Senior Center. She enjoyed knitting, crotchet, crafting, scrap-booking, traveling and boating, and visiting her grandchildren.
Surviving, are her loving husband of 50 years, Marvin H. Hesseltine, two sons, Bret H. Hesseltine M.D. of Dallas, Texas, Blaine E. Hesseltine of Raleigh, N.C., grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dustin and Breanne Hesseltine of Dallas, TX, and Braeden Hesseltine of Raleigh, N.C.,a niece Pamela Harder of Woodlands, TX., nephew, Scott Johnson of Austin, TX., and a cousin, Richard Eklof of Langdon, N.D.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday,July 28, 2007, at Faith Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m., and also after 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home. Private interment will be held later. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society of Daviess County.
