Lauritta Powell Lambert

November 13, 1923 — September 20, 2004

Lauritta Powell Lambert, 80, of 911 E. 3rd. St., Owensboro, passed away Monday, September 20, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Athanatious Leo and Mary Helena Calhoun Powell., and was a homemaker, had worked at General Electric and at the Carmel Home for about seven years. She was a member of Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church. She was an avid quilter, loved gardening and working in her yard. She received a letter of recognition from Mayor Waymon Morris showing her pride for Owensboro. She also loved rodeos and horse racing. She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. Lambert on April 10, 1971, and a sister, Florence Myrle Powell Lambert on Feb. 24, 1943.

Surviving are three sons and their wives, David & Dianne Lambert of Utica, Ky., Dale & Thomasine Lambert of Owensboro, and Randy & Debbie Lambert of Philpot, five daughters and their husbands, Ann & P. I. Ward, Helena Doll Redmon, Brenda & Robert Cooper, and Mary & Eddie Evans, all of Owensboro, and Janet & Steve Smith of Georgetown, Ky., 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, two brothers, Thomas Earl Powell of Owensboro and James Leo Jimmy Powell of Hartford, Ky., and two sisters, Mary Ethyl Tichenor and Elizabeth Betty Mattingly, both of Owensboro.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 23, at Sts. Joseph & Paul Catholic Church with burial following in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kosair Childrens Hospital, Attn: Pastoral Care, 231 East Chestnut St., Louisville, Ky. 40202.
