Laureta Mauzey Lyons

Laureta Mauzey Lyons, 91, of Owensboro passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun. Born in McLean County on September 9, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary Huff Eaton; was a member of Lewis Lane Baptist Church; and was a retired GLPN at Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Lyons also played the organ for several years at Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, John R. Mauzey, Sr. and Dan Lyons; brothers, Benjamin Eaton and Durward Eaton; and sisters, Mary Lou Havener and Iva Eaton.

Surviving are her children, Mary Burgess of Owensboro and John R. Mauzey, Jr. of Lexington; a grandson, Brian (Carolyn) Judd of Dayton, OH; and great-grandchildren, Joanna Judd and Andrew Judd.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Howard Matthews officiating followed by burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of their mother take the form of donations to a favorite charity.
