Larry Dean Westerfield

Larry Dean Westerfield, 63, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2012 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation-Hillcrest. He was born on February 14, 1949 in Daviess Co., KY to the late Walter and Ollie Hults Westerfield. Larry had worked for 25 years with Big Rivers Electric as an Auxilary Operator and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local #1701. He was a proud member of Maceo Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He also enjoyed helping with the youth of the church, going on mission trips, and serving as a Royal Ambassador leader. He loved playing with his grandchildren, U.K. basketball, and Nascar. Larry proudly served his country in the Army where he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. While in Vietnam, Larry was exposed to the Agent Orange chemical. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda W. Murphy, a brother, Thomas W. Westerfield, and a niece, Katrina Ann Chapman.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon Ford Westerfield, his daughter and son-in-law, Jenny Rebecca and Rev. Brian Roberts of Philpot, two grandchildren, Haley and Bennett Roberts, two brothers, Bobby (Ann) Westerfield and Fred (Phyllis) Westerfield, all of Owensboro, a sister, Julia (Jerry) Chapman of Greenwood, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 11, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum where military honors will be performed. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
