Larry Weedman, 58, of Owensboro, passed away 4:58 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 after fighting a courageous spirit filled battle with small cell lung cancer. His home was filled with family and friends as he crossed over to be with the Lord. Larry accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the tender age of 10 during a church revival service and was currently a member of Walnut Memorial Baptist Church.
With his gentle nature and spirit of servitude, Larry lived a life of selflessness. He was everyone's friend and took care of everyone regardless if they deserved it or not, if they could afford it or not, or even if they never knew. We are proud to call him husband, father, brother, and friend. We will miss the strong hand of guidance and love in our lives. Larry was the sole entrepreneur of Weedman Construction, holding a reputation of impeccable craftsmanship, honesty, and integrity. Weed or Weedhopper, as he was known to his friends, enjoyed morning and afternoon coffee "visits" with his friends at the Eight Ball, Deloris' and Ole South BBQ. He lived for spending time with his family and friends, supporting his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors (school and church functions, sports, etc.) whitewater rafting, the mountains, camping, fishing, horses, gardening, from which he shared his bounty, and THE MAGIG OF ORDINARY DAYS.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Lois Weedman, grandparents, Percy and Rosa Howard, and a brother, Stephan Lee Weedman.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jeanette (Edge) Weedman, three children, Perry (Traci) Weedman, and Lynette (Chris) Brown both of Owensboro, and Sherry (Matt) Rudolph of Louisville, KY., grandchildren, Mackenzie Weedman, Madison Brown, Jordan Brown, Courtney and Logan Weedman, Micah Brown, Lucas Rudolph, and Jonah Brown, a brother, Darrell Weedman of Owensboro, a sister, Betty Ann (Paul) Fischer of Hartford, and his beloved dog, Rastis.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Walnut Memorial Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As he fought his own battle, his heart was touched by the reflections of young children suffering with the dreaded disease of cancer.
