Larry Thomas Thorpe, 69, of Owensboro died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County to the late Warner and Mary Henry Thorpe, had worked as an electrician for J.C. Ellis and then became a bee keeper. Larry served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and he loved to hunt, fish, and spend time on his farm. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jack L. Thorpe, granddaughter, Cristina Thorpe, and niece, Sharon Texas.
Survivors include his sons, Mark Thorpe and his wife Michelle, Brian Thorpe, and Bruce Thorpe all of Owensboro; nephew, John Thorpe and his wife Nancy of Rosine; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his furry canine companion, Bit Bit.
Services will be 6 p.m. on Wednesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from Noon until 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Disabled American Veterans.
