Larry M. Sims, 53, of 3421 Surrey Drive East, Owensboro, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He was born in Jefferson County on September 21, 1949.
Mr. Sims worked at Century Aluminum, was a member of Sweeney Street Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking for friends and family.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Angela Sims; two stepsons, Kenneth Walton and Hugh Talbott IV, both of Owensboro; three stepdaughters, Nicole Gilbert, Kim Walton and Nicole Talbott, all of Owensboro; 11 grandchildren, Kerisha Walton, Corinee Adams, Sharmeca Walton, DeAnthony Walton, Jamal Walton, Lekeisha Walton, Deasia Walton, Tarion Talbott, Hugh Talbott V, Angel Walton, Keyland Walton. He is also survived by his mother, Ophelia Partee of Louisville; a brother Lamont Washington of Louisville; a sister, Linda Black of Lexington; six foster brothers, Samuel Partee of Massillon, Ohio, Joseph Crowe and Robert Henry Crowe, both of Owensboro, Roy Crowe of Los Angles, Michael Crowe of Macon, GA, and David Crowe of Wheeling, W.Va.; and five foster sisters, Diane Partee and Rachel Partee, both of Louisville, Mary Catherine Epison of Owensboro, Helen Lee Johnson of Louisiana and Shirley Ann Hite of Los Angeles.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2002 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Reverend Larry Boyd. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2002 and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
