Larry Carr Porter, 66, of 1013 Gardenside Dr., Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2005 at the home of his sister, Judy Brown. He was born in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late Luther Henry & Adelene Carr Porter. He was retired as a printer for the Evansville Printing Corp. now known as the Evansville Courier-Press. He started out as a paperboy for the Messenger-Inquirer and ended his career as one for them and also had worked in the composing room. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Third Baptist Church and the International Typographical Union Local #35 in Evansville. He also was a U.K. basketball fan, and enjoyed bowling and spending time with his nieces & nephews and his dog, Teenie. He also was preceded in death by his nephew, Philip Kost in 1997.
Surviving are three sisters, Judy Brown, Janice Porter, and Sharon Kost, all of Owensboro, and a brother, John Porter of Louisville, a cousin who was like a sister to him, Rebecca Braden of Owensboro, his nieces & nephews, Rodney & Jeff Brown, and Mark & Michael Kost, all of Owensboro, Nancy Finley of Rockport, In., and Riayn & Andrew Porter of Louisville, and several great and great great nieces & nephews and cousins.
Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 17 at Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 Noon Monday at Glenn Funeral Home.
