Larry Ingatius Cecil

Larry Ignatius Cecil, 78, went home to heaven on February 20, 2026, to be with the Lord and his Momma and Dad. The Daviess County native was born November 3, 1947, to the late John William Cecil and Willie Mae Payne Cecil. He was a good son, brother and uncle all his life. Larry moved his Momma from a two story with basement to a one level home at the request of his dying Dad in 1991. His father wanted to make sure his wife didn’t have to go up and down stairs. Larry kept his promise and looked after his Momma when she had dementia and cared for her faithfully until she died. He was a longtime member of St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a cook and security patrol in the early 1960’s before being honorably discharged. After his two years of service, Larry came home and was employed at Colonial Bakery as a bread and bun baker before retiring from there. He loved to fish, play cards, and root for his favorite sports teams. Watching TV was Larry’s favorite past time. He kept up on all that was going on in the world and had very strong views about it. He never married but loved his family with all his heart.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Jerome Cecil and sister-in-law, Sherrie Cecil; nephew, Anthony Barry Cecil; great-niece, Callie Mae Reid; grandparents and all of his aunts and uncles.

Those left to cherish is memory include his brother, James Cecil and wife, Thelma of Leesburg, FL; sister, Barbara Carden of Owensboro; numerous nieces and nephews, Kimberly (Victor) VonWechmar of Richmond, Beth Carden Reid (Jonathan), Kristen Carden Hatfield (Jared), Brandi Cecil-Millay, Kelli Cecil and Robert John Cecil; great nieces and nephews, Carter and Landon Reid, Emma Hatfield, Kaitlyn Jones, Gage Millay, Brian Cecil, Chloe Duckworth, Tesla Brown, Jovi Brown and Valerie Walters.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or St. Stephen Cathedral in his honor.

The arrangements for Larry Cecil will be private. Larry’s final place of rest will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Care by Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
