Larry T. Cecil, 62, of Owensboro, died Friday, January 15, 2010, at the Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born April 27, 1947, to the late Claude and Thelma Kanable Cecil in Daviess County. He was retired from Whirlpool Corporation and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was an Army Veteran of Viet-Nam, and received the Army Commendation Medal. He enjoyed NASCAR, bluegrass music, bar-b-quing, and spending time with his grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Johnson, and a brother, Samuel David Cecil.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Gerri Cecil; his son, Bryan Thomas Cecil, and his daughter, Kelcie Marie Cecil, both of Owensboro; three grandsons, Jacob Thomas Cecil, Matthew Grant Cecil, and Isaac Lee Cecil; five brothers, James Robert (Evelyn) Cecil of Philpot, Francis Owen (Charlotte) Cecil of Philpot, Joseph Bernard (Wanda) Cecil of Owensboro, Darrell E. (Ann) Cecil of Philpot, and Claude Cecil, Jr. of McLean County; four sisters, Anna Ruth Cecil of Owensboro, Mary (Walter) Whitehead of Coopersburg, PA, Patricia (Leon) Lanham of Philpot, and Deborah Mayfield of Owensboro; several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with entombment and Military Honors at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, with prayers at 5:00 PM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation Monday will be after 9:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-State Multiple Sclerosis Society.
