Landon Kenneth "L.K." Burcham, 86, of Owensboro, passed away January 23, 2016 at Hermitage Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born April 22, 1929 in Windsor, Missouri to the late Robert and Bernice Myers Burcham. L.K. was a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, where he continued to be an active alumni and followed his beloved Wildcats. He was a decorated Korean War veteran who, as a 1st Lieutenant, received the Bronze Star for going beyond the call in an active war zone. He also received three Battle Stars and the U.N. Service Medal along with several other distinguished awards. He retired from Field Packing Co. after 38 years as Procurement Manager. L.K. believed in public service and sat on many boards and organizations including President of the 4-H council, Cattleman's Association, Owensboro Catholic High School P.T.A., Thruston Fire Department and others. He was a life long member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was a part of their cooking team. He and his wife, Gloria, owned G&K Antiques where they loved to collect and refinish furniture as well as travel with the business. L.K. was also a proud member of the Moonlite Coffee table.
L.K. was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Gloria Froehlich Burcham; son Stephen (Choya) Burcham; sisters, Roberta King and Barbara Basket.
Survivors include his sons, Kim and wife Sonja, Rick and wife Betty, Kenny, Kevin and wife Tammy, all of Owensboro, Barry and wife Joanna of Pleasant View, Tennessee; daughters, Kay Rountree and husband Mark of Louisville, Kelly Hedges and husband Bryan of Owensboro; brother, Eugene Burcham of Woodland Hills, California; 27 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
The service will be Friday, January 29 at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church with Father Tom Buckman officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00, with prayers at 7:00 PM and Friday after 9:00 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
