L. D. Jennings, Jr., 62, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born on April 12, 1948 in Daviess Co., Ky. to the late L. D. Jennings and Golda Densford Barker. He was an installer for Jennings Tile Co., and was very meticulous about tile setting. He also owned U-Store-It in Utica, was a 1966 graduate of Daviess Co. High School, and was an excellent carpenter. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and going to their ballgames, having cookouts, working crossword and Sudoku puzzles, and going to the horse races. He also enjoyed going to local high school football and basketball games, watching U.K. basketball, and fishing. He was always involved in politics and was a very compassionate and caring person and loved helping people in any way he could. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Jennings, a sister and her husband, Dorothy Carol and Earl Ray Roberts, his stepfather, Earl Barker, and a brother, Jackie Jennings.
Surviving are three sons, Brian Jennings and wife Dana, Brett Jennings, and Zachary Jennings, all of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Skylar Jennings, Brayden Jennings, Sophey Jennings, Lindsey Jennings, and Courtney Smeathers, three great grandchildren, two brothers, David Jennings and wife Martha of Whitesville and Larry Jennings and wife Julia of Owensboro, two sisters, Doris Mayes and husband Bobby and Linda Horton, all of Owensboro, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 2, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Father Dave Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Karns Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after 8:30 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
