L. V. Boyd

L. V. Boyd, 61, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, August 12, 2008, at his home. He was born February 25, 1947 to the late Robert and Hellen Strange Boyd in Daviess County. A member of the Baptist Faith, he was a Journeyman Electrician with the IBEW #1701 for 36 years. He was a Marine Veteran, a member of the Eagles Club #4168, and the VFW Post 696. He enjoyed golf, boating, was a strong UK basketball fan, and loved spending time with his family and friends at the lake.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Boyd.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Betty Boyd; a son, Christopher Boyd and his wife, Stephanie of Louisville; a daughter, Tina Stapleton and her husband, Shawn of Cincinnati, OH; three grandchildren, Abigail and Wyatt Stapleton, and Coleton Boyd; a brother, Glenn Boyd of Prescott, AZ; two sisters, Patty Patrick of Phoenix, AZ, and Maude Deadrick of Albuqurque, NM; several nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Services will be 3:00 PM Friday, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, with a memorial service by the Eagles at 6:30 PM. Visitation Friday will be after 12:00 PM at the funeral home. Military Honors will be given by VFW Post 696 at the Cemetery.
