Kim Gregory Burcham

Kim Gregory Burcham, passed away on October 6, 2023, at the age of 70. He was born on May 20, 1953, in Owensboro, KY to the late L.K. and Gloria Burcham.

Kim was a hardworking and dedicated individual. He pursued and was successful at many things.  He worked at I&M Power Plant, was Crew Chief in the ARCA Racing Series, and retired as Operations Technician from Kimberly Clark where he worked for many years demonstrating leadership and commitment to detail.

Kim had a passion for building cars, but his mechanical skills and love for the art extended beyond the racetrack as he helped his grandchildren build cars for the Pinewood Derby and participated in car shows with his cherished 1972 Red Chevy Nova.

Kim exerted precision and meticulousness in everything he did. In addition, he was known for his homemade ice cream, which he loved sharing with family and friends.

While Kim pursued his own hobbies, his true joy came from spending quality time with his loved ones.  Kim was a man of strong faith and a Biblical Christian. He generously shared his knowledge and experiences, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to learn from him.

In addition to his parents, Kim was preceded in death by two brothers, Stephen Choya Burcham and Barry Burcham.

He is survived by his wife, Sonja Hicks Burcham; children, Carrie (Rich) Van Winkle, Chad (Samantha) Burcham, Kendra (Sal) Castro, Nick McCosh, Ginny (Paul) Layman and Melissa (Ben)Kamuf; grandchildren, Eli, Connor, Shelby, Kees, Grayson, Kiptyn, Shaun, Scarlett, Maverick, and Ella; siblings, Rick (Betty) Burcham, Kenny Burcham, Kay (Mark) Rountree, Kevin (Tammy) Burcham, and Kelly (Brian) Hedges, along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
