Kevin M. Ward, Sr., 73, of Philpot, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2006 at his home. Born March 15, 1932 to the late Romie and Pearl Boarman Ward in Stanley, KY, he built and raced drag cars during his younger years and later helped build stock cars. In addition to winning at local tracks, he was a member of the Century Club on Daytona Beach for running over 100 mph on sand. Mr. Ward was a design engineer for GE/MPD for over 30 years retiring in 1993. After retirement, he was an active volunteer at the Carmel Home and at the St. Vincent De Paul Society at STS Joseph and Paul Catholic Church where he was a member. He enjoyed restoring antique picture frames along with gold leafing the frames. Mr. Ward also helped restore much of St. Paul Catholic Church after the fire in _____. He was preceded in death by brothers, Norman Ward, Stanley Ward, Wayne Ward, and William Ward and a sister, Maxine Willingham.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Bumm Ward; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Mary Beth Ward of Philpot and Kevin Jr. and Jodi Ward of Louisville; grandchildren, Allison Ward and Drew Ward of Louisville and Ryan Ward of Philpot; sister, Lafern Ling of Whitesville and a brother, Dick Ward of Smith Mills, KY.

Services are 10 A.M. Monday, March 13, 2006 at Sts Joseph and Paul Catholic Church with Father Brian Roby officiating followed by entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at Glenn Funeral Home from 2-8 P.M. on Sunday and after 8:30 A.M. on Monday. Prayers will be at 7 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St Vincent DePaul at Sts Joseph and Paul Catholic Church or the Carmel Home.
