Rev. Kermit Wayne Young, 63, of Owensboro went to be with Jesus Tuesday, January 13, 2004. He was born on November 16, 1940, in Graves County to the late Leonard and Louise Young. He enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing Jesus with others. Through his 23 years as a minister he touched the lives of everyone he knew. He was the founder of Serious Moments Ministries. He received the honor of becoming a Kentucky Colonel in 2003. He retired from Yager Materials after 25 years of service. Many times he referred to his truck as, his two-seat church. He was a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Karon; six daughters, Sherry Martin, Kathy Miller, Melissa Willis and Cindy Payne all of Owensboro, Jennifer Croom of Burgaw, NC, and Mary Francis Sexton of Gladewater, TX; two sons, Tim Young of Owensboro and Kermit Wayne Young Jr. of Gladewater, TX; three sisters, Nancy Smithson, Tina Walston and Marilyn Washburn all of Mayfield, KY; thirteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2004 at Nickel Ridge Holiness Church. Burial will be in Nickel Ridge Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Young Family from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004 and from 9:00a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home.
