Kenneth Darrell King, 84, of Owensboro and Ruskin, Florida, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, surrounded by his family at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. He was born on August 15, 1941, in Owensboro, Ky. To the late Oather and Marjorie King. He retired from the United States Navy serving over 20 years. Kenneth also retired from the Federal Building GSA in Owensboro.
He was a proud member of the Local VFW #696 and the American Legion, Kenneth loved his brothers and sisters there and he was always willing to help anyone in need.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Jan King; 2 brothers, James and Jerry, and a sister, Wilma Jean Parker.; a son-in-law, Mike Yeckering.
Kenneth leaves behind his beloved family, three sons, Stephen and his wife Sally Moss, Billy and his wife Cheri Moss, and David Moss; two daughters, Debra Yeckering and Pamela Quesnell; grandchildren, Stacy and Earl Fulkerson, Paul and Ruth Yeckering, Karla and Chris Copeland, Chris and Lindsay Moss, Drew (Jenni Smith) Moss, Eric Moss, Jessica Moss, Josh and Savanna Quesnell, and Matt Moss; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brad and Jacob Yeckering, C.J. Copeland, Blake and Luke Fulkerson, Abbey Moss, Kara, Kiersten, and Hunter Moss, also, Carter, Owen and Sophie Moss; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother, David King of Owensboro; a special niece, Dee Dee (Diana) Schultz of Alaska; and a precious best friend and neighbor, Marita Stroud of Owensboro.
A private graveside memorial service for Kenneth will be held in Christ Chapel at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
