Kenneth Glenn Jolly

Kenneth Glenn Jolly, 85, of Owensboro, went to be with his Heavenly Father, Friday, April 17, 2009. He was born in Hancock, County, September 15, 1923 to the late A.W. and Zelma (Anderson) Jolly. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Owensboro, and a member of the Maverick Sunday School class.

Mr. Jolly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a flight instructor in Frederick, OK. and in CBI, flying cargo planes from India to China. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Cluster. He was discharged from the service in 1946 as a First Lieutenant after a tour as a MATS pilot in the U.S. Kenneth was employed eight years flying for Owensboro Aviation as a flight instructor and charter pilot, and served on the Owensboro Daviess County Airport Board for 23 years. He retired from Texas Gas Transmission as Director of Aviation and chief pilot for 31 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jolly was preceded in death by a son, Keith in 2007, and siblings; Eva Remington, Howard Jolly and Kirtley Jolly.

Surviving is his wife; Eloise (Perkins) Jolly, a daughter; Karen (Ron) McMichael of Louisville, and sons; Kerry (Paula) Jolly of Owensboro, and Kevin (Sydell) Jolly of Crestwood, KY., grandchildren; Brian, Kasey, Amanda, Kenneth, and Kodey Jolly, Kyle McMichael, Megan, McKenzi, and Emily Jolly,three great-grandchildren, and a sister;Joyce (Bill)George.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m.Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Glenn Funeral Home, with Drs. Paul Strahan and David Nelson, and Rev. Clarence Nemitz officiating. Entombment will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the First Baptist Church Maverick Sunday School Class.
