Kenneth Wayne Farris, 60, of Owensboro went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 13, 2009 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in McLean County, Kenny was a lifelong Christian who was always proud to profess his faith and enjoyed encouraging others to become Jesus Christ's followers. A member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 633, he retired from TVA on February 4, 2002. Kenny loved being with family and always looked forward to family celebrations. He was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Chicago Cubs, the UK Wildcats, and NASCAR.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth H. Farris and Myrl (Farris) Ray, his brother Ricky and three grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 21 years, Martha; daughters, Kennethia Farris of Owensboro and Selena (Kyle) Abney of Hartford; sons, Troy (Kim) Farris of Hartford and Phillip (Tracy) Farris of Louisville; five grandchildren, Alex, Ashton, Isabelle, Tate, and Trey.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rick Grover officiating followed by burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN.
