Kenneth L. Curry

February 1, 1924 — October 23, 2013

Kenneth L. Curry was born in Prophetstown, IL to the late Marcella and Taylor Curry on February 1, 1924. He was a veteran of World War II serving four years in the Navy. Most of that time was aboard on the LST 608 in the South Pacific and finally in the invasion of Japan.
He has one brother, Keith Curry, and sisters, Dorothy Rush living, and 2 other sisters Doris Brumbly and Diane Smith who are both deceased.
After his military service he attended Illinois State University in Normal, IL. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry on June 13th and married Virginia on June 18, 1949 in Peoria, IL. They had six sons: David, Daniel, Dirck, Kenneth and Kevin all living and Denis deceased. He had thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.
He returned to ISU after teaching one year to get his Master's Degree. After this he became Chief Chemist for Corn Products Refining Company in Pekin, IL where he worked there for 34 years before retiring in 1983.
He loved camping with the family and was a master gardener and house renovator. His sons learned from him and constantly thank him for what they learned in gardening and renovation of homes.
He was active in the American Chemical Society, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He and Virginia are members of St Stephen Cathedral here in Owensboro, KY. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the St. Stephen Cathedral Renovation Fund in Kenneth's name. He was cremated and funeral will be held at St Stephen Cathedral Saturday at 12:05 P.M.. His remains will be returned to Normal, IL for burial.
