Kenneth Newton Cross, 94, passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2004 in Maryville, TN. He was born in Livermore, KY on August 27, 1910. Mr. Cross graduated from Livermore High School in 1930. He was married to the late Addie Lou Fuqua. Mr. Cross and his wife moved to Louisville, KY in 1939 where he worked for more than 29 years with the B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company, retiring in 1972. Following his retirement, Mr. Cross moved to Miami, FL for a time before moving to Owensboro in 1977. Mr. Cross was a member of Hall Street Baptist Church. In his retirement, Mr. Cross took up oil painting and was a member of the Owensboro Art Guild where his paintings have been on display at the Owensboro Museum of Fine Arts.
He is survived by two sons, Douglas and wife Charlene Cross of Greenback, TN; Bill and wife Anne Cross of Richmond, KY; and one daughter, Sharron and husband Ed Layne of Hopewell, VA; 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters, Juanita Robertson and Louise Jones of Owensboro; a brother Ray Cross of Winter Park, FL and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 8, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 1 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Rosehill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Owensboro Museum of Fine Arts, 901 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
